A quick guide to overtaking

overtaking-vulnerable-road-usersWe’re all going to come across vehicles travelling slower than us, and that will mean you may need to overtake them. Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so. Special care should be taken when overtaking vulnerable road users such as cyclists and horse riders, especially if you are driving a larger vehicle as the slipstream (draft) from your vehicle can affect a cyclist’s path. Horses can be spooked easily, so don’t use your horn when overtaking, and slow down while giving them a wide berth. If the horse bolts or rears up, it could throw the rider into the line of traffic.

You should
