Most of the time this can be corrected by glasses, contact lenses or surgery, but for some issues you must tell DVLA.<\/p>\n<p>DVLA requires you to tell them if you have any of the following problems with your eyesight. Use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/v1-online-confidential-medical-information\">form V1<\/a>\u00a0for car and motorbike or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/v1v-online-confidential-medical-information\">V1V<\/a>\u00a0for coach, bus or lorry:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Double vision (diplopia)<\/li>\n<li>Reduced visual acuity<\/li>\n<li>Tunnel vision<\/li>\n<li>Optic neuritis<\/li>\n<li>Optic atrophy<\/li>\n<li>Macular degeneration if it affects both eyes<\/li>\n<li>Branch retinal vein occlusion in both eyes<\/li>\n<li>Night blindness<\/li>\n<li>Nystagmus<\/li>\n<li>Myasthenia gravis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You don\u2019t need to tell DVLA for the following conditions, UNLESS you have a bus, coach or lorry licence, as long as they don\u2019t affect your driving. Use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/v1v-online-confidential-medical-information\">form V1V<\/a>\u00a0to report it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monocular vision (i.e. vision out of only one eye)<\/li>\n<li>Macular degeneration if it affects\u00a0one eye<\/li>\n<li>Retinopathy (e.g. diabetic or hypertensive)<\/li>\n<li>Branch retinal vein occlusion in one eye<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must stop driving temporarily if you have any of the following which may affect your vision<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transient ischaemic attack (TIA) \u2013 for car and motorbike licences you must stop for at least 1 month after the last TIA, and be cleared by your doctor; for bus, coach or lorry licences you must stop for at least one year and be cleared by your doctor.<\/li>\n<li>Retinal treatment \u2013 use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/v1-online-confidential-medical-information\">form V1<\/a>for car and motorbike licences, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/v1v-online-confidential-medical-information\">V1v<\/a>\u00a0for coach, bus and lorry licences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You don&#8217;t need to tell DVLA about the following, but you do need to ensure you still meet the required driving standard<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shortsightedness (myopia) &#8211; you must wear corrective lenses<\/li>\n<li>Longsightedness (hypermetropia) &#8211; you must wear corrective lenses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s a minimum eyesight standard that you must meet in order to keep (or get) a driving licence.
