If a tyre bursts, close the throttle smoothly and slow gently to a stop, holding the handlebars firmly to help you keep a straight course.

If you are on a corner and you experience a sudden deflation of the tyre it is likely that the bike will slide from under you, causing a lowside accident. Sometimes there is enough time for you to react if you hear the tyre burst, but it has a slower deflation.

If you have a slow puncture, e.g. a nail in the tyre, you should be able to feel the steering getting gradually heavier (if it's the front wheel) or the rear of the bike moving around more if it's the back wheel.
